Why can OLED screens replace LCD screens?

In recent years, various mobile phone manufacturers have launched "full-screen" mobile phones, and OLED screens with a screen ratio of more than 99% have become the new favorite of the mobile phone panel industry. According to the analysis of authoritative institutions, by 2020, more than 70% of the world's smart phones will use OLED screens, and LCD (liquid crystal display) will gradually be eliminated from the market.

In the global competition for next-generation OLED high-tech panels, South Korea's OLED technology has always been the dominant player, making companies like Apple constrained in the field of mobile phone panels. However, in the past two years, the market demand in mainland China has been strong, the government has supported the development of new display technology of "three-way increase", and the domestic OLED layout is starting. Recently, my country's sixth-generation flexible AMOLED production line has achieved small batch production and shipment. The addition of "Chinese players" has made the competition in the OLED market more and more climax.

So, why can OLED screens replace LCD screens and become a technology hotspot that everyone is chasing?

Since the traditional LCD (liquid crystal display) technology is very mature, why can OLED technology replace LCD as the next generation display technology on the display screen? This is because, compared with traditional display screens, OLEDs can be said to be epoch-making in terms of technical advantages. First of all, in principle, OLED screens are simpler than LCD screens: for example, the display principle of LCD screens is similar to that of advertising light boxes. The glass shows different colors, presenting a colored pixel. As for OLED, it does not need the light source inside, it is the lamp itself, and it can emit light as long as it is powered on, similar to the color light tube that is usually seen. OLEDs are thinner due to the elimination of the backlight structure. The thickness of OLED is less than 1mm, which is only one-third of the traditional LCD screen. At the same time, due to the characteristics of material composition, OLED has better shock resistance and is not afraid of falling.
